WHEREAS, in 1987, the 216th .Judicial District iVar•cotics Task
Force was E?Stabli5t,ed for- a five co~_rnty Narcotics Enforcement
l'eam comprised oi= Ker•r•, Aander•a, Kendall, Kimble and Gillespie
co~_mties; City of Kerrville, City of Ingram, City of Bander-a,
City of Boerne, and City of Fredericksburg, all o,= which c"ire
members of tt,e Alamo Rrea Co~.incil of Governments and comprise
the 216th District Co~_~rt under the Direction oi= District
Attorney E. Bruce G_trry; and
WHEREAS, since December 198'!, the c:16th .Jr_idicial Districts
IVarcotics Task Force has averaged i9 narcotic arrests per
month and seized narcotics valr_red at over 55,4:;4,V177.0~ and
seized assets valued at over $8c:3,665.00; and
WHEREA:i, the 216th Jr..tdiciai District Narcotics Task F:-once has
shown it can prod~_rce res~_rlts that are tangible; and
WHEREAS, the 216th .Jr_rdicial District and its law enforcement
agencies desperately need financial assistance from the
Criminal J~_rstice Division of the State of Texas to contin~_re
the large scale assa~.tlt on tt,e drug problem; and
WHEREAS, contin~_red funding is also needed t-o P_d4lCc,tE' o~_rr
p~.iblic in tY~~e dangers of drr_rgs, and to attack the drug problem
as it exists in o~_rr- comm~_rnity as the 216th .Judicial Districts
IVarcotics Task F=orce t,as presented their drug program to
organizations/schools involving over 2,657 person.

awarding of grant application.
