Dear Sir, This letter is forwarded for our continued professional services, as enumerated in our proposal letter, P9625-1, of February 27, 1996. These continued services are to provide plans for the facade restoration/rehabilitation and associated preventive measures. Services are generally for selecting contractor(s) through project completion, and coordination with the Texas Historical Commission as required. Our proposed work is divided into three sections: 1. Develop a plan for the restoration/rehabilitation of the existing facade. This would include: A. Locate a qualified cast-stone contractor. Coordinate eval- uation of facade components and production of required pieces. B. Develop a project bid package, with specifications for: (1) The nondestructive removal and evaluation of the existing facade components. Temporary storage of the reusable facade components. (2) Excavation under the entry portico and adjacent to the oc- cupied basement space, with concurrent evaluation of the foot- ings and rehabilitation as required. Removal of shrubbery and pavement only as required. (3) Emplacement of appropriate water control measures. Infill after completion of (2) and (3). Replacement of pavement and shrubbery. 1 (4) Reinstallation of the stored facade components and the replacement pieces produced by the cast stone contractor. Pro- vide details for attachment. Finish details to include plaster and paint. The hourly charges, etc. , are as listed in our proposal letter dated February 27, 1996, not to exceed $5,054,00, 2. Prepare documentation as required to present to the Texas Historical Commission. At least one trip to Austin planned for a presentation on the proposed rehabilitation. The hourly charges are as previously indicated, not to exceed $648.00. 3. Provide technical advice to the selected contractor(s) from pre- bid/selection through project completion. Our activities would include job site and office visits, and telephone, facsimile and written communications as required. The hourly charges are as previously indicated, not to exceed $906.00 In developing this proposal, some of the work outlined above has been started. Specifically, two cast stone contractors in San Antonio have been visited to observe their operation and observe samples of their work. Also, a letter from the Texas Historical Commission with several concerns was answered, providing an outline of the proposed project (T9625-3). If we can be of any further assistance concerning this matter, please feel free to call. Sincerely, ~~// //~ ../~~C2.~ GC/ L'LCCC~'v,'C'~C4iU~ Stuart W. Vordenbaum, P.E.
