RE: Executive Session -Sick Leave and Vacation Time for County Engineer
When I was hired as County Engineer in 1991, a new position was created called "Full Time with Limited
Hours." This is a unique description applicable to County Engineer. The rational was the County
Engineer was "on call" during emergency or special situations, but would limit hours to average 10 hours
per week.
When the county consultant wrote job description for employees is Kerr County. They did not write one
for the county engineers since it is a statutory job description. (Title 116, Art. 6702-1, Sub Chapter C.
T.C.S.)
As part of the "Full Time with Limited Hours," all benefits are to apply, including insurance, retirement,
sick leave and vacation.
Concerning sick leave and vacation time, since 1991, I have been accruing 6.67 hours per month of
vacation and 8 hours per month of sick leave. This has recently been questioned by the Personnel Office.
I would like a court order confirming the above be placed in my personnel folder to clarify these points.
