I am writing this letter to request putting LCRA on the Kerr County Commissioners' Court
agenda on February 24, 1997.
LCRA and the National Weather Service wish to appear before Commissioners' Court to inform
them of the new National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration (NOAA) Weather Radio
Service for the Hill Country. No action is expected from the court.
We would like to be placed first on the agenda because we will be making two presentations that
day. Our first presentation is to the Kerr County Commissioners' Court, followed by a
presentation to Llano County Commissioners' Court.

PROVIDE THE PUBLIC, THROUGH THE NEWS MEDIA PRESENT,
INFORMATION ON THIS IMPORTANT, LIFE SAVING-SERVICE.

Representatives of the Lower Colorado River Authority and the National Weather
Service wish to appear before the Kerr County Commissioners' Court to inform
them of the new National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration (NOAA)
Weather Radio service. A NOAA Weather Radio transmitter has been installed at
an LCRA tower site at Granada. Alert-tone weather radio is now available to
residents of Kerr, Gillespie and Kendall counties.
The representatives of both agencies would like to use the public forum that a
commissioners' court meeting provides to provide the public, through the news
media present, information on this important, life-saving service. No action is
expected from the court and it is hoped that the presentation will last no more than
20 minutes.
The agencies will also be purchasing newspaper advertising to inform the public that
the service is now available, but the commissioners' court meeting will be an
"official" announcement.

Weather Radio Ser-•vi.ce for-- the Hill Co+_intry i.s tip and r+_inning.
The Weather Radio Service is an ~='4 ho+_trs to forecast the
weather for Kerr Co+_~nty. The warning on the radio
will tell yo+_i where the storm is in Y.er^r Co+_inty. The radio
can be p+_trchased at Wal--Mart, Rad10 Shack stores its needs to
be a 7 freq+_~ency weather radio.
