Dear Ms. Dye:
We often hear from county officials about how helpful it is to know the sheriff and
constable fees in other Texas counties. We are now preparing the 1998 Sheriffs' and
Constables' Fees manual, and we need your assistance. Please let us know of any changes
to the fees charged by the offices of the sheriff and constables as set by the
commissioners court according to Local Government Code X118.131.
You only need to report any changes from the previous year. The fees will be effective
January 1, 1998, and will be included in the new manual. After the new manual is
produced, we will send a copy to each county.
I've enclosed a return envelope and a copy of the fees listed for your county in last year's
manual. If you are reporting changes, please mark through any amount changed, and
print the new amount to the right. If you are not reporting any changes, simply indicate
so and the fees will appear the same in the 1998 manual. To help us ensure that we have
included the information for your county, please put your title and signature on the sheet,
and return it to us by October- 15.
