Kerr County Sheriff's Department JOB DESCRIPTION: Administrative Corrections Supervisor CLASS NO. PAY GROUP: 16 JOB TITLE: Administrative Corrections Supervisor OBJECTIVE: OCCUPATIONAL CATEGORY: Official/Administrator FLSA: Exempt To assist in ensuring that the county jail meets or exceeds the standards established by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards pertaining to personnel, facilities, supplies and services; and to perform jailer functions. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: 1. Reports to: Jail Administrator/Sheriff. 2. Directs: Supervises jail staff. 3. Other: Has frequent contact with inmates, other sheriff's department employees, other law enforcement officials, visitors, attorneys and other representatives of the court and the general public. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This is a responsible, supervisory position, duties include seeing that directives from the Sheriff or Jail Administrator are carried out, as well as supervision of jail personnel and inmates, maintenance of statutory facility standards and receipt and accounting for funds. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Supervise and/or assist assigned personnel when needed, and/or in the absence of a shift supervisor. Supervise and train new employees according to County Jail Policies and Jail Standards. Organize and maintain all records and files on inmates. Update charges as necessary in computer and on inmate board. CLASS NO. (continued) Notify inmates of responses to requests by the Sheriff or Jail Administrator. Organize all paperwork for disciplinary and grievance boards. Transport female inmates when needed. Oversee trustee responsibilities to ensure compliance of assigned duties. Assist commissary and jail clerks when needed. Monitor operational adequacy of facilities and equipment and ensures prompt repairs as needed. Assures county facility is in compliance with State and Federal guidelines. Coordinates intake and release of prisoners with other law enforcement agencies. Perform such other duties as may be assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Communicate, understand and follow both written and oral instructions, departmental policies, rules, regulations and laws. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other law enforcement officers, agencies and the general public. Analyze situations and adopt a quick, effective and reasonable course of action. Learn the use of computers and other specialized equipment. Must maintain good physical condition. ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school graduation or its equivalent, plus Basic Corrections Officer Certification by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education. OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities and satisfies State statutes. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Basic Corrections Officer Certification by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education. Valid Texas Motor Vehicle operator's license.
