t~ Network design and equipment requirements
Provided is a drawing and component listing with costs associated to give the County Auditors Office
access into the Novell network located at the Kerr County Sheriff's office. This design allows for all
existing users to access the network simultaneously. tt also allows for future expansion of users at no
cost to the Auditors Office. The onty limitation currently is the Netware License at the Sheriff s network.
An added benefit for future consideration is the ability of the Kerr County Sheriffs Office to access the
POWER 370 unit at the Auditor's Office simply by adding an ethernet card in the IBM Power PC and
activating the proper addressing.
I am providing a page with the required pin configurations for RJ45 connectors. Should you decide to
acquire our services 1 would like to talk to the individual installing the cable prior to starting this task to
insure that the cable ends are terminated con'edty.

The pin assignments are identical for 106ASE-T and
1006ASE-TX, using Category 5 UTP cable.

When properly connected to a tOBASE-T network, the
Fast Etherlink PCI adapter operates in 106ASE-T mode and
supports standard 10BASE-T cable topologies and types,
including Category 3,~,or 5 UTP for 10 Mbps.
When properly connected to a 1008ASE-TX network, the
Fast Etherlink PCI adapter operates in t OOBASE-TX mode and
supports Category 5 UTP cable only.

The County Auditor addressed the Court with the Novell
network. The Novell people came and look at both system at no
charge to the County. They have provided us with a drawing and
component listing with costs associated to give the County
C)ffice's access into the Novell network located at the Kerr
County Sheriff's t]ffice. Commissioner Letz stated to have the
Sheriff's Office is take this listing of costs to Security
Telcom and see if they are willing to pay all or part
of the cost to hook up the system.
