Item 1. i To discuss Maintenance, F'er^sonnei and other
pr^oblems with the Kerr Go+_-nty Jail. tSher^iff)
Sheriff t'.aiser^ addressed the Court about the maintenance
problem o+_-t at the .jail. The person that handles the .jab is
doing a good .job .j+_-st not q+_-alified on the warranties of the
eq+..~ipment o+_-t at the .jail. The Judge stated that the
Maintenance Department had handle the maintenance out at the
Jail and that did not wank o+_-t. Commissioner Lett stated that
a sal+_-tian needs to be worked out.
Sheriff staged that the person needs to be on called :~4 hours
and an weekends. The Go+_-rt discussed that na one could be hir^ed
at this time and it could be disc+_-ssed again at b+_-dget time.
The Court decided to have the contractors go aver the problems
at the .jail and get cost figures together and report back to
the Gourt on Monday, May 5, 1997. Judge wo+_ild get a memo to
Jim that he is to fix the problems o+_~t at the .jail or
call someone in to fix the problem.
The personnel problem o+_-t at the .jail was disc+_~ss with Cot_-rt
that the pay far the .jailers is law.
Rusty addressed the Go+_-•r^t on the .jailers have one of the
hardest .job. The .jailers have to hand out medicine to the
prisoners. The .jail co+_-ld use a per^son to hand o+..-t the
medicine to the prisoners. Commissi.aner Leti stated the
they sho-.-ld come bacl~ to the Co+_-r^t on Monday, May 5, 1997
with a plan and proposal on getting a person to hand out the
medicine, and the overtime hours that they a1.1 have and see if
they can some how pay far the aver^time that they already have
accumulated.
