Currently, Ken County is experiencing a shortage of recreational facilities. The Court recognizing current and anticipating future needs due to population growth, wishes to provide additional areas for swimming, children's playgrounds, hike and bike trails, fishing, nature study areas and other recreational facilities such as volleyball and open field sports. The proposed construction of Flatrock Lake County Park is needed to meet the increasing demands for recreational facilities in Kerr County. Toward this end, the Lower Colorado River Authority has provided Ken County with a $200,000 grant of which $15,000 was paid to Frontera Associates International, Inc. fora "Five Year Master Plan for Kerr Count}'. The remaining $185,000 combined with inkind contributions by Kerr County will meet a value of $294,845. The County, in conjunction with the Lower Colorado River Authority is allocating $294,845 for the development of these improvements.
