JOB DESCRiPTION• FACILITIES SUPERVISOR PAY GROUP: JOB TITLE: OBJECTIVE: APPOINTED SUPERVISOR To ensure the county facilities and grounds are properly maintained. FLSA: EXEMPT ~ ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: I. Reports to: Commissioners' Court andlor to any member of the court who may be designated by the court as the direct supervisor. 2. Directs: All personnel associated with facilities maintenance. 3. Other: Has contact with other county departments and with outside vendors and suppliers. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This is a responsible supervisory position. Duties include supervising the maintenance of the county facilities and grounds; ensuring all necessary repair work is done; ordering necessary equipment and supplies for maintenance work and assigning personnel to accomplish these tasks. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Assigns and supervises work of maintenance/custodians and grounds maintenance workers; Over sees necessary repaus on the county facilities; Inspects buildings and grounds to monitor the quantity and quality of work being performed and takes remedial action if necessary; Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and equipment and orders additional items as needed; Evaluates necessity for any major repairs or maintenance needs and makes recommendations for remedial action; Prepares necessary reports, makes grants applications where applicable, submits employee timesheets, and other paper work related to the custodial and maintenance functions; and Prepares budgets for Maintenance Department at Ag-Facility, Jail, Courthouse and Animal Control Facility; Ensures that expenditures remain within budgeted amounts; and Performs other duties as may be assigned. SKILLS AND ABILTI'IES: Ability to supervise and motivate employees in unskilled or semi-skilled positions; ability to evaluate the need for various repairs and maintenance; ability to operate and to train employees in the use of janitorial and grounds maintenance equipment; ability to prepaze listings for inventory, to order supplies, and to prepaze other simple records and report; ability to understand and communicate to others oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county personnel, vendors, and the general public. Other: Has contact with other county departmems and with outside vendors and suppliers. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This is a responsible position. Duties include assisting the Facilities Supervisor in the supervising of the maintenance of county buildings and grounds; ensuring all necessary repair work is done; ordering necessary equipment and supplies for maintenance work; scheduling work to be done by grounds workers and custodians. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Custodial work; Mows grass and trims, waters lawn areas sufficiently to keep them in good condition; sweeps and cleans sidewalk and curb areas around buildings; Picks up trash on or around the grounds and parking areas of county facilities; Cleans flower beds, pulls weeds, trims trees acrd bushes, rakes leaves as needed, and properly disposes of debris; Utilizes power and hand operated equipment; Moves furniture and boxes; Assists in setting up and tearing down of exhibitions scheduled at county facilities; Assists in performing minor repairs and painting; and Performs other duties as maybe assigned. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Operates a vacuum cleaner and hand cleaning apparatus; Cleans windows, walls doors, floors, water fountains, and furniture; Cleans restrooms daily and replaces paper products; Strips, waxes and polishes floors as needed and instructed; Empties and cleans waste receptacles and property disposes of trash; May direct or supervise persons doing S.W.AP. or Community Service; May perform maintenance and repau building such as palming and replacing lights; Assist members of the public; and Performs other duties as may be assigned. REOUIItED KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND ABII,ITIES: Ability to follow oral and written instructions; to learn to use janitorial equipment and supplies and the use of cleaning chemicals; ability to make minor repairs; and good physical condition to perform strenuous work.
