JOB DESCRIPTION: ANIMAL CONTROL FACILITY MANAGER PAY GROUP: APPOINTED FI.SA: EXEMP'T` MANAGER To efficiently operate and maintain the county animal control facility. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONST3IPS: 1. Reports to: Commissioners' Court 2. Directs: Oversees all functions of Animal Control Facility 3. Other: Works with A.C.O.'s, veterinarians and the general public This is a responsible position covering all aspects of the operation and function of the Anima] Control Facility. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Receives and routes incoming telephone calls and visitors; Responds to routine and informational inquires about the services and program(s) administered by the facility and may be assigned primary responsibility for processing work relating to a specific function; Coordinates with A.C.O.'s for inquires about animals at the facility and missing animals; Responsible for all record keeping required at the facility; Responsible for all accounting duties and practices of the facility; Responsible for of preparing regular reports in standardized format(s) on facility activities to be distributed as required by the various state, county and other entities; Responsible for personnel; i.e. employment, assigning to duties, and overseeing time sheets; Reviews supply inventories and operational needs and orders supplies as needed; May process registrations, complaints, and requests; Oversee and may assist in daily cleaning and maintenance of facility; Assist A.C.O.'s, workers, and public with handling of animals, including euthanasia; and Performs other duties as may be assigned. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: 1. Reports to: Animal Control Facility Manager and Local Health Authority for Rabies 2. Directs: Assistant Animal Control Officers 3. Other: Will perform other duties as assigned and/or requved to maintain department operation and animal control facility GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This is a responsible position which includes but is not limited to work involved in investigating reports of animal bite and stray animals, administering and enforcing rabies and animal control as defined and described in the Kerr County Rabies and Animal Control Order, City of Kerrville Ordinance and the Texas Health and Safety Code. Shall provide assistance as needed at the animal control facility. Work is performed within established procedwes and policies involving sound judgment and initiative. All aspects of work performed is under the dvect supervision of the Facility Manager. Animal Control Officer will be required to be on call after normal working hours for bites and emergency situations, and Sll in at the animal corttrol facility. Investigates calls regarding possible exposwe to rabies. Answers bite related calls. Prepare and submit reports and records of work performed. May include collection, assembly and analyzing data and/or statistics. Communicate with Local Health Authority for Rabies and Animal Control, Manager, and County Veterinarians regarding rabies and animal cormol concerns. Provide information, public education, and promote public awareness regarding rabies and animal control. Enforce Kerr Coumy Rabies and Animal Control Order and City of Kerrville Ordinance to secure corrections including filing charges for violations. Perform job duties within requirements established by Kerr County Personnel Policies and administrative procedures. Complete on-going training in the form of cowses, meetings, seminars, home study cowses, etc, to maintain certification and improve job performance. May be required to work irregular hows, meaning those other than Monday through Friday, but no more than 40 hours per week. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Work involves daily clearng of all facilities, feeding and handling of animals, minor maintenance and repairs; assist manager as needed and assist the public with their animals. Daily cleaning and sanitizing of all animal holding areas. Daily feeding, watering, handling of animals. Provide general maintenance, minor repairs, and custodial service to all areas of shelter. Assist the manager with the public and their animals. Assist the manager with his duties as needed. Assist animal corrtrol officer in care of animals including euthanasia.
