Today there are seven congregations that have groom for that original four. The Building was moved from its original site (300 block of Clay Street) in 1955 and today is located in the 200 block of Lemos Street. The Building was donated to Kerr County three years ago by former State Representative and Railroad Commission member Mr. Jim Nugent with the understanding the Building would be moved from itg present location. The County accepted this donation and is now the owner of the Building. r.., Several sites have been made available to the KCHC for relocating the Building. However, Mr. Nugent's preference for final location has always been the Schreiner College campus. In addition, the Commission feel that the projected cost to renovate and preserve the Building, justifies a prominent location where visibility and useable would be maximum. Therefore, the Commissions proposal to locate the Building on the Schreiner Campus was presented to the Executive Committee of ±he Board of Trustees on September 8th. The results of that meeting as the Commission understands is as follows. EXECUTI F E COMMITTEE A. The proposal b}' the Executive Committee was along these lines: I. The College will provide a 25 year lease to the KCHC (or some designated agency) at a cost of perhaps $1.00 or some nominal amount. Z. Schreiner College would be protected from alt obligations. The project - (Renovation c~ Preservation) -would be timely. The College does not want a long range constniction project that would take away from the grounds appearance. 4. There would be no Historical Marker or other designation that would place any sort of restriction on the property as to future developement or use.
