"Buster" Baldwing Commissioner Rct.2, T.H. "Butch" Lackey, Commissioner Pet. 4, Bruce Oehler^, Commissioner Rct.3, Jonathan Letz was not pr^esent and the following proceedings were had: c~;~ ~3ygl.' i.l Discuss policy regarding use of County Credit Cards for payment of in-county purchases including meal expenses. iCounty Judge) Commissioner Baldwin addressed court on this issue. He stated the Kerr County Rersonnel Policy has no verbiage regarding credit cards. It only states that employees ar•e r^eimbur^sed after payment. He would like to add a new paragraph to the personnel policy that addresses credit cards. Judge Denson is in favor of the use of credit cards. Commissioner Oehler recommended to go with a credit card company that doesn't have a high finance charge. Judge Denson stated to get rid of the Commissioners' Court credit card for it being an interest-bearing credit card from the date of purchase. It was recommended to the Court to obtain a credit card with the best interest rate with Kerr County as one account with numbered cards. Commissioner Baldwin stated that: one, credit cards are necessary and we need to go with a cheaper interest bearing company. Credit cards are good ideas for schools and conferences out of county. Various Department Heads and Elected Officials will have control of that credit card. Next question addressed to the Court by Commissioner Baldwin is how credit cards are to be used? It was discussed that credit cards are okay to use out of county, for room and board and travel and educational expenses. It was suggested by Paula Rector that anything in county that is educational and training purposes the county pays for. Judge Denson recommended that during the budgetary process to create a line item for each department to make application. Commissioner Baldwin invited anyone wishing to help revise the personnel policy should join him and County Treasurer with suggestions to add a new paragraph regarding credit cards. It was also suggested to Tommy Tomlinson to check on obtaining number^ed credit cards under one account name. COMMISSIONERS' COURT RECESSED RT 2:28 PM. Page 578
