PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the lives of too many young Texans have already been lost and too many others jeopazdized to ignore the problems associated with illegal underage drinking; and, WHEREAS, illegal underage drinking significantly contributes to health problems, health care costs, crime, violence and other serious problems in our County; and WHEREAS, curbing juvenile drinking and driving while intoxicated (DWI) violations are two of the most important issues facing our community; and WHEREAS, education and prevention initiatives introduced through the Texas alcoholic Beverage Commissioner's Project SAVE (Stop Alcohol Violations Early) aze intended to decrease the problems named above; and WHEREAS, Kerr County is committed to working for the prevention of alcohol use by our Youth under 21 years of age and joins state-wide initiatives that draw attention to this effort; NOW THEREFORE BE IT KNOWN: That I, Robert A. Denson, County Judge of Kerr County, Texas and in cooperation with the residents of Kerr County, do hereby proclaim the month of April as "YOUTH ALCOHOL AWARENESS MONTH" and call upon all citizens, other government agencies, public and private institutions, business, hospitals, and schools to promote awareness of the problems associated with illegal underage alcohol use and to seize this opportunity to establish safer and healthier norms regarding alcohol use by young Texans.
