The computer hardware and software currently in use by the reporter for
Commissioners' Court, is 2"d generation (about 1984) PC technology. It is very slow
and inefficient and is not Y2K compliant.
Based on a survey of available replacement systems and quotes from several
suppliers, the following system is proposed for purchase with the funds to be allocated
from Commissioners' Court line item 10-401-571, Contingency Funds:
EclipseT"'' Software, including training for the court reporter,
one year of all updates, revisions, upgrades, any new
versions published, and 24-hour, 7-day a week, toll-free
support. 3,995.00
Shipping and handling 30.00
350 MHz, PC, with Windows 98, Office applications, modem,
network card, etc. (This would be an add-on buy with
computers being purchased by the County Auditor for
the Juvenile Detention Center.) 1,625.00

The total cost shown is a maximum amount based on the computer purchase as shown.
We are still evaluating other options for the computer purchase which may result in a
lower total cost.
