ORDER N0. ~583c PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF APRIL AS "YOUTH ALCOHOL AWARENESS MONTH" On this the 1^cth day of April 1933, upon motion made by Commissioner' Let z, seconded by Commissioner' Baldwin, the Court unanimously approved by a vote of 4-0-0, adopting the proclamation pr^oclaiming the month of Apr^il as Youth Alcohol Awareness Month. PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the lives of too many young Texans have already been lost and too many others jeopardized to ignore the problems associated with illegal underage drinking; and WHEREAS, illegal underage drinking significantly contr-ib~_ites to health problems, health care costs, crime, violence and other serious problems in our County; and WHEREAS, curbing j~.~venile drinking and driving while intoxicated (DWI) violations ar^e two of the most important issues facing o~_ir community; and WHEREAS, ed~_ication and prevention initiatives introd~_iced through the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commissioner^'s Pr^o.ject SAVE (Stop Alcohol Violations Ear^1 y) are intended to decrease the problems named above; and WHEREAS, FCer^r^ County is committed to working fnr^ the prevention of alcohol use by our' Youth under ~1 year^s of age and .joins state-wide initiatives that draw attention to this effor^t; NOW THEREFORE BE IT KNOWN: That I, Fr^ed Henneke, County Judge of Ker^r^ County, Texas and in cooperation with the r^esidents of Ker^r^ County, do hereby pr^oclaim the month of April as "YOUTH ALCOHOL AWARENESS MONTH" and call upon all citizens, other government agencies, p~_~blic and pr^ivate institutions, business, hospitals, and schools to promote awareness of the problems associated with illegal underage alcohol ~_~se and to seize this oppor^t~.~nity to establish safer' and healthier norms regarding alcohol use by yo~_tng Texans.
