The Jefferson County Commissioners' Court would like to invite the County Judges' and
Commissioners' Association to Beaumont-Port Arthur for its 2001 convention. That yeaz will be
very festive as we will be celebrating the 100`" Anniversary of the discovery of oil right here in
Jefferson County - Spindletop 2001 !
Beaumont is just an hour east of Houston on Interstate 10, with commuter air service into the
Jefferson County Airport. Southeast Texas is a temfic convention destination with a variety of
amenities and attractions, including a number of museums, pazks, theaters, outstanding hotel and
meeting accommodations, and ample golf and tennis facilities. In addition, we have beaches, the
Big Thicket and, for those who aze inclined, Louisiana's casinos aze just an hour's drive away.
Most of all, we have friendly people and warm Southeast Texas hospitality.
The Beaumont Convention and Visitor's Bureau does a good job of helping local hosts pull
together all of the elements necessary for a successful convention and Jefferson County will be
the responsible host for Court Night. We look forwazd to making 2001's gathering one of the
most successful ever!
