In addition, the Kerr County }-listoricai Gorrsmissiozt has discussed with the court a proposal for the.joint use fvr the building. The Commissioners Cautt, the KC=HC`, aztd »any citi~er~s of Kerrville, ccsn.sider this to be one of our historical buildings of an unique designs of the deco period. The general feeling within the community is that the building should be saved as pint of.Kerr County history. There is a strong Eeclin.g through. out the Corx~.m~ity that if the building were to fall into private uwner5hip it would have tt~ bE demolished in order to pro;'ide an economical investmertt, due in most part, to the lack ofpariCitrg. Joint plan at this time would be for the buildi*~g to be used as: l) county museum, 2) storage and displays afthe county's histQrica] artifacts, 3) exhibits the county's archives, 4j county office space, S) possibly city office space, and 6) hasernent storage vfcounty and historical commissions records- The old Kerrville Girt' Half at 64Cs Main Street, a building of the same vintage, sire anal design, was recently restored and renovated into the Union. State Bank, This was ecoraamically fee~sible because of the available land for the required parking, We believe the samz excellent job of restorat.io~ can be accomplished at the post office building tv preserve another piece of Kerr County histcty. Therefore, the Kerr County Commissioner's court request that ,you lit' pass the normal disposal process and donate this property tc~ Kerr County as provided fox ry law, We understand such donations hwve been done cn prevision oc::casions and would like for you to da the saute for Kerr G~~unty in ardor that we may have the npponunity to save some of our history. Sincerely, Frederick L, Henneke
