Dear Senator Gramm: The Kerr County Commissioners Court recently passed a resolution expressing its support of efforts to allow prayer and the Bible in America's public schools. I write to you today to respectfully request that you initiate or support a constitutional amendment which would allow for prayer and the use of the Bible in classrooms throughout our great nation. As an elected official, you deal daily with efforts to address the ills faced by our society. We are of the belief that communities should have as many tools as possible to combat the many problems facing us today. Therefore, we believe that public schools should be allowed to return to the Christian principles upon which our nation was founded and made great. Not only would such a measure signify a return to our traditional values, but it would free local school districts from unnecessary governmental interference. Whife returning prayer and the Bible to the classroom will not solve all of our country's problems, it will begin to reaff~rm the importance of Christian values and morality to our young people, and will only be beneficial. We hope that you agree. We appreciate your consideration of our request, and we look foward to hearing from you on this important matter. Keep up the good work. Sincerely, -1- ORDER NO. x:5974 LETTER TO CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVES FROM KERR COUNTY :SI-{=~~G: FC!R Ah1 INITIATIOhJ OF AN AMENDMENT F~ERMITTING PRAYER AND THE HOLY BIBLE TO BE FREELY USED Ih!
