A concrete vault, 4' x 2 %z' x 2 ''/z' is proposed to be buried in a public ceremony January 1, 2000. A granite marker will be placed on top of sealed vault. The City of Kerrville is still work on their pkg. but promise to have it to us in plenty of time. including letter from the Mayor. We desperately need a pkg. from the County, briefly giving statistics, plans for future expansion within the County and predictions for growth over the next 100 years. Would also like a letter from the Kerr Co. J%udge to the people of the 22nd Century wishing them well and telling them how privileged we have been to live in such a great area with such wonderful people - or something like that. Include names of the Judge and the County Commissioners as of 12-31-99. This will be a good sized capsule. All the matl. will be put in "Space bags" that are moisture and bug proof, a desiccite bag will be put in the space bag before all the air is sucked out. The matl. will then be put in a large insulated iZeavy duty Igloo cooler and more desicitte bags placed in the cooler to take care of any moisture. Then the cooler will be placed in a plastic lined concrete vault and buried on the Courthouse grounds, at a place designated by the Commissioners. A marker reading "Time Capsule 2000" to be opened January 1, 2100: The marker is approx. 1' x 2' made of gray granite, and has been ordered as it takes 8-10 weeks to get it engraved and delivered. The total capsule will take a hole approx. 3'64 x 4'D x 5'L. Once it is buried, the marker will not take up much room, if necessary, Women's Chamber will see that the grass is replaced either with sod or seed - whatever the County suggests. Still expect to receive several other packages from groups in our area. Joe :ierring, Jr. is making up a booklet of Kerrville buildings both new and old. Ode sent out 110 letters to all the schools, churches and civic groups in the Kerrville/Kerr County area for input. There was good response from the civic groups, but schools and churches response has been minimal. Concrete vault and liner is approx. 24"'vd x 25"D x 48"L. Inside capsule container is approx. 19"W x 22"D x 43"L Want to bury the Time Capsule on the Courthouse grounds on Jan. 1, 2000, at 2.00 in a public ceremony with the Mayor & County Judge shoveling in the first scoops of dirt.
