This project will tie Water Street te'.1orth Street with eight traffic islands located at various points along
Esrl Garrett. The eight traffic islands will have tree wells and decorative street lights installed. Traffic
islands were wnstructed at the ?north Street intersection this past summer.
The C ity of Kcnvillc presented the proposed drawings to tl:e Traffic Management Tcam (TMT) in
Ocwber to inform the team of tha upcoming improvements on Earl Garrett- The City of Kerrville also
presrnted the recommendation of reopening the mid-block Kcrr County Courthouse exit on Earl
Garrett. This would improve the situation at the current cotuthouse exi[ near the Jefferson Street
intersection- Tlae T'vIT agreed that the mid-block axit would improve the Jefferson Street congestion.
The distance from the current exit to the JetT'erson Street intersection is below the minimum distance
allowed by City of Ker[ti ille Driveway Spacing Criteria. The City of Kerrville recommends !hat the
cu: rent exit on Earl Garrett, he reversed and made an entrance for employee parking at ground level
zed the east side below grade pazkirzg. This new employee parking area would also exit at the new
mid-block exit on Earl Garrett if Kerr County wants to leave the current exit as is, then the City of
Kerrville would request that this be aright -turn only exit. This would be accomplished by right-tarn
only signs andlor buttons placed at this driveway.
