P R O C E E D I N G S
DODGE HENNEKE: Good morning. It's 9 o'clock
on Monday morning, January 22nd. We will call to order this

Commissioner Williams, I believe you have the honors this

COMMISSIONER WILLIAMS: Really? Please rise.
(Prayer and pledge of allegiance.)
DODGE HENNEKE: Thank you. At this time, any
citizen wishing to address trie Court on an item not listed
on the regular agenda may do so. Is there anyone who would
like to address the Court on an item not listed on trio
regular agenda? Once again, if there's any citizen who
wishes to address the Court on an item not listed on the
regular agenda, they may do so at this time. Seeing none,
let's move to the Commissioners' comments. Let's staxL with
Commissioner Williams.

DODGE HENNEKE: Commissioner Letz?
COMMISSIONER LETZ: I'd just like to thank
all of the volunteers at the Hill Country Junior District
Livestock Show Association and actual County employees that
spent many hours making another great district livestock
show. And, I think we had 2,550 entries, somewhere around
there. Good show.
COMMISSIONER WILLIAMS: How much did they
raise at the auction?
COMMISSIONER LETZ: They were off from last
year at one point during the -- about pLObably two-thirds of
the way through. Not substantially. Like, $5,000 or
$6,000, what I was told. 1 have not heard a final number.
There was just -- a couple of the people that have bought a
lot recently were not present, but we had -- luckily, to
take their place, it seemed like more businesses in the
community than usual were spending more money than they
usually do, so it probably balanced out about the same.
But, it was a -- it was a good sale.
COMMISSIONER GRIFFIN: I certainly echo the
thoughts about the great show, and it was very
well-attended. Gosh, it's just great to see the kids out
there every time you do that. It's inspiring. tdo other
comments, Judge.
DODGE HENNEKE: Commissioner Baldwin?

CUMMISSI~.>NER BALDWIN: Yes, sir. First of
a11, I'd like to introduce our new Commissioners Courr
clerk, Linda Kneese. She's new in Lk,e County Clerk's Officc
and new to the Commissioners Court. We want to welcome you,
Linda, to our --
MS. KNEESE: Thank you.
COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: We prefer your first
day of court includes buying lunch for the Commissioners
Court.
(Laughter.)
MS. KNEESE: I do work for the County.
COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: And then doughnuts,
doughnuts at every meeting from this point on, part of the
deal. And, gentlemen, as you know, I went last week to
Beaumont, Texas to -- for a planniuy u,eeting for cur annual
conference of the South Texas Judges' and Commissioners'
Association. Normally, on those planning meetings for that
conference, we -- the board usually takes three trips into
the community. It takes three trips into the community
to -- to plan the whole conference. We went down there
and -- ancJ just ran nonstop for two full days and completed
the entire thing in two full days. So, it was kind of a
whirlwind. I've got crawfish running ouL my ears, sick of
seafood at this moment, but tomorrow it will be over and
I'll be ready for some more.

But, out of that -- out of that group, I'm
happy to announce -- out of that meeting, I'm happy to
announce that two ox our esteemed colleagues here at this
table will be part of the program down there. Commissioner
Letz will be a part of a panel -- a water panel with
T.N.R.C.C. and the Water Development Board, and Commissioner
Letz will be a 3-man -- part of a 3-man panel to talk about
the water issues of cur great state. And, Larry down on the
other end of the table will talk about septic tanks. And,
Larry, 1 appreciate that very -- very much. Maybe you can
take the heat off of some of the rest of us. But -- but,
he -- he will -- he has one hour down there to talk about
the O.S.S.F. program in the state, so I couldn't think of a
better thing for him, That's just -- I know that everycne
at this table is very excited about that, and we'll be there
to -- be there to support you. That's all the comments I
have.
