BUREAU OF JUSTICE VEST PARTNERSHIP GRANT This grant will be for the purchase of twenty {20) ballistic vests to be worn by the patrol division of the Sheriff s Department. Many of the vests being wom by the patrol officers aze outdated and several other vests will expire within one yeaz. The vests are vital to the safety of the officers. The grant calls for a cash match of fifty percent. At this time the Sheriffproposes to purchase a level IIIA vest. This vest will provide maximum protection to the officer. The vest comes with two carriers and trauma plate. The individual cost per vest is $599.95. The total amount of the purchase will be $11,999.00. Kerr County will be responsible for $5,999.50 of that price or half. The Sheriff proposes to use fiznds from the 2000 LLEBG grant that was awazded to the County to purchase equipment. The amount of funds received from this grant was $11,321. The application and request for the Bureau of Justice Vest Partnership Grant is accomplished through computer online services, much the same as the LLEBG grants.
