Bowers, UGRA field services manager, made an inspection of the on-site sewage facility located at 218 River Road, which revealed that the septic requires repairs or upgrading for the following reasons. You have a 490-gallon, single-compartment tank and 40 linear feet of drainfield in gravely soils. Both tank and drainfield are undersized even for 1977 Standards as well as 1997 Standards and will need [o be upgraded in order to be licensed. The soil profile hole showed gravelly soils. These conditions require an alternative system. Alternative systems require a professional engineer or a registered sanitarian to design the system to the soil and site conditions present. A site evaluation and design plan must be submitted to this office before a permit to construct can be issued. If a facility using surface irrigation is chosen, an affidavit to the public and filing fee of $9.00 will also be required. A license to operate must be obtained after the system is installed and before the system can be used. Planning materials will need [o be submitted within 10 days of the receipt of this letter. If you have any questions, please give us a call ai (830) 896-5445. Sincerely, R. Charles Wiedenfeld, Ma ager Hydraulic & Environmental Resources RCW:psh cc: UGRA OSSF File No. 098-403
