ORDER NO ~E95c ADOPT RESOLUTIION IN SUPPORT OF HI!_L COUNTRY STATE REPRESENTITIVE DISTRICT Dn this 'the E6th day of March CQ~V~1, ~_ipprr motion made by Commissioner Baldwin} seconded by Commissioner L.etz, the co~_irt unanimously approved by a vote of 4-0-0, to adopt the resolution in support of a Hill Country State Repr•esentitive Distr•ic•t. RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF A HILL COUNTRY STATE REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT WHEREAS, the Texas Hill Country is a unique geographic area of Texas with common interests, common challenges and a proven history of working together; and WHEREAS, for many years the Hill Country has enjoyed representation in the Texas House of Representatives that reflected its status as a cohesive area; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the people of the Hill Country and the State of Texas that our elected representatives continue to serve azeas with common interests and challenges; and WHEREAS, the counties ofthe I-35 comdor and the San Antonio SMSA have unique challenges and interests that are not shazed with the rural Hill Country counties; and WHEREAS, the counties of Kcrr, Gillespie, Kendall, Bandera and Blanco are rural Hill Country counties with a proven record of cooperating to address common problems. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kerr County Commissioners Court requests that the Texas Legislature recognize the common interests and challenges of the rural Hill Country counties and create a contiguous State Representative District that encompasses all or as many as possible of the rural Hill Country counties.
