RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE EXTENSION OF SPUR 98 (THOMPSON DRIVE) WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation has for many years proposed the extension of Spur 98 (Thompson Drive) from the end of existing Spur 98 to FM 1338 (Goat Creek Road) in the City of Kerrville, Kerr County, Texas; and WHEREAS, the extension of Spur 98 includes the construction of ahigh-water bridge across the Guadalupe River; and WHEREAS, Kerr County has consistently and enthusiastically supported the extension of Spur 98 and the construction of the high water bridge; and WHEREAS, Kerr County has budgeted and planned for its share of the expenses of this project and is ready, willing and able to proceed with this vital project at the earliest conceivable opportunity. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kerr County Conunissioners Court that Kerr County re-affirms its unwavering staunch support of the proposed extension of Spur 98 and the construction of the high water bridge across the Guadalupe River and earnestly begs of the Texas Department of Transportation that this project be given the highest possible priority and completed at the earliest possible tip. Tucker, PE Area Engineer ~ ~ -~~~`_ ba ~ An Equal Opportunity Employer NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct a public hearing and open house for the purpose of discussing the proposed extension of Spur 98 (Thompson Drive) from the end of existing Spur 98 to FM 1338, (Goat Creek Road) in the City of Kerrville, Kerr County, Texas. An open house will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the public hearing beginning at 7:00 p.m. on March 28, 2001 at KPUB Community Room, 2250 Memorial Boulevard, in Kerrville, Texas. The open house will provide interested citizens an opportunity to view project exhibits and ask questions. The public hearing is for the express purpose of soliciting written and/or verbal comments regarding the project for inclusion in the public hearing transcript. The purpose of the propcsed rroject is to extend Spur 98. The proposed project would begin from the end of existing Spur 98 at James Road. The existing county road (Thompson Drive), west of James Road, will be reconstructed and designated as Spur 98. This roadway will be extended, on new location, to the west and north across the Guadalupe River and tie to existing State Highway 27 and FM 1338 (Goat Creek Road) and terminating at FM 1338. The project will consist of four travel lanes with additional turning lanes at intersections, and including sidewalks and curbs. The bridge structure typically will be four (11-foot) lanes with curbs and asix-foot sidewalk on each side of the bridge. The total length of the project is approximately 1.189 miles. Approximately 18.12 acres of additional right of way is proposed to be acquired. The proposed right of way acquisition would also result in the acquisition of one business. No farms or non-profit organizations will be displaced. All negotiations will be conducted without regard to race, color, religion, sex or national origin. The acquisition of properties and the relocation program will be conducted in accordance with the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970, as amended, to the extent that the State can comply with said law. A schematic plan showing the location of the project and geometric design, the environmental document prepared for the project and other information pertinent to the project are on file and available for inspection at the San Antonio TxDOT District, Kerrville Area Office located at 1832 N. Sidney Baker in Kerrville, Texas. Information regarding the tentative schedules for the proposed construction may also be obtained from the San Antonio TxDOT District, Kerrville Area Office located at 1832 N.
