The 7exa5 A&M University System, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the County Commissioners Courts of Texas Cooperating EXTENSION ACTIVITY REPORT TO COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT Miles traveled 136 COMMISSIONER'S COURT REPORT -February, 2001 1-2 Attended Southwestern Junior Livestock Show in Fort Worth with 25 4Hers and parents attending. Kerr Co. 4Hers placed three Iambs and one hog in the premium sale. 5 - 7 San Antonio Livestock Show -Kerr county 4Hers participated in the Junior and Open Boer Goat Show, Jr. and Open Angora Shows, and the Junior and Open Breeding Swine Shows. Kerr County 4Her won the Champion Angora Buck in the open angora show and Champion and Reserve Champion Breeding gilts in the Open Swine Show. A total of 97 Kerr Co. 4H members participated in this show. 8 Holland completed the Kerr Co Result Demonstration book for the year 2000, worked on monthly reports, returned telephone calls. 9 NACAApreparationforupcomingSouthernRegionalOfficer'sworkshop. Prepared Horticulture newsletter in preparation for county programs. 10-16 San Antonio Livestock Show - A total of 97 Kerr Co. 4H members participated in this show. Kerr Co. had 48 market hogs, 17 hogs, 7 steers, and 17 meat goats. We placed 2 Iambs, 2 hogs and three steers in the junior market sales. Kerr co. 4Hers did extremely well in the market goat show with 3 4Hers placing in the top ten. 19 Returned various telephone calls, preparation for the Pruning Workshop. NACAA preparation for upcoming Southern Regional Meeting 20 A Pruning Workshop was held with 27 in attendance. Holland conducted the pruning workshop. Holland demonstrated the proper pruning techniques on 1, 2, 3, and 4 year-old pecan trees, pruned older peach trees, 4 year old apple trees and 4 year old pear trees. Holland also allowed the manager of the property to do the pruning himself. The participants of the workshop also got a hand in the pruning demonstration. It was a hands-on workshop. 20-21 Holland attended a Legislative Training Meeting at the State Capital in Austin to learn how Texas government works. A tour of the facilities and a reception with the various representatives was conducted. 22 -24 Holland attended a NACAA Southern Regional Officers Workshop in Athens, Georgia. Holland was in charge of presenting programs, committee responsibility and working with national sponsors and donors. Holland also was asked numerous questions about NACAA board involvement. Holland gave a run down on the officer's positions to be voted on at the Annual Meeting in Albuquerque New Mexico. Holland is responsible for presentations at the various regional meetings. 25-28 Houston Livestock Show- Holland attended the swine sift in Brenham and the Iamb sift in Rosenberg as well as the Houston Livestock Show in Houston. Kerr Co. had 17 Iambs, 13 swine and 3 steers participate in the Houston Livestock Show. Kerr Co. placed 2 market Iambs and 2 market swine in the premium sale.
