Water Education Taskforce t z-` Sherry Cunningham originally approached Janet Robinson to review some landscaping tips for a water conservation brochure being developed by the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Robinson, who at that time was Chair of the Education Committee for UGRA, suggested including the Education Committee Chair of Headwaters Underground Water Conservation District (HUWCD) Susan Saunder and the City of Kemille's Environmental Education Committee Chair who at that time was Bazbaza Burton for the purpose of developing a brochure that could be endorsed and distributed jointly by all entities. After the fu•st meeting the Taskforce felt that there was a larger focus to be addressed in carrying out the Region `J' plan of achieving a significant proportion of future water needs through conservation. At this time, no other group is working with this as their primary goal. We developed a mission statement and brainstormed on other ways to get the conservation message to the citizens of Ken County. The entities currently participating on the Taskforce are: UGRA, HUWCD, the City's Environmental Education Committee, the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Convention and Visitor's Bureau. Other entities to be contacted regazding their interest in participating are Kerr County Commissioners Court, the City of Ingram , West Kerr County Chamber of Commerce, and the Riverside Nature Center. Our next meeting is on Monday, April 16`~ in the classroom at U.G.R.A. at noon. You are invited to bring a brown bag lunch and drinks and water will be provided.
