County Government Week
April 23 - 27, 2001
Displays by all departments will be located outside their offices and in the main hallway
of the Courthouse.
Friday, April 27, 2001 we are designating as Heritage Day.
What made Kerr County.
Governor Elisha M. Pease signed the legislative act creating Kerr County out of Bexaz
Land District on January 26, 1856.
In order to honor the heritage of Kerr County we aze planning exhibits of the following:
Longhorn steer "Wrangler" brought by the Y.O. Ranch with cowboy.
Sheep and goat shearing brought by Glenn Holekamp.
Shingle maker, Wayne Estes
Forger, maker of tools used by our forefathers.
Spinner and corder, Faye Droz
Demonstration of camp cooking, Beth Haney and Marie Hardey.
Presentation of colors by the Hill Country Mounted Peace Officer's Association.
All elementary schools were invited to participate with their fourth grade class to become
a shadow official for Friday, Apri127, 2001. Hunt Elementary School responded that
they would like to participate. They have 16 children in the 4s' grade. Kerr County has
enough elected officials to accommodate the entire 4~' grade. Please advise Thea Sovil if
you aze willing to have a shadow official between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
They will miss their lunch and we will ask each of you to provide them with a lunch.
