We'll call to order this special session of the Kerr County Commissioners Court. The item of business first on the agenda is to consider and discuss acceptance of the bids for the Sheriff's Department radio communications project. We have what appears to be three sealed bids here. The first bid is from Dailey Wells Communications of San Antonio. The second proposal is from Motorola. (Discussion off the record.) JUDGE HENNEKE: The third proposal is from Tyco Electronics. Let me make sure that's right. T-y-c-o, yes. Tyco Electronics, also known as M/A-COM Private Radio Systems, Inc. COMMISSIONER LETZ: Tyco International. JUDGE HENNEKE: Division of Tyco International. They are from Lynchburg, Virginia. So, we have three bids on the radio communications system project. COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: So moved. COMMISSIONER LETZ: Second. JUDGE HENNEKE: Motion by Commissioner Baldwin, second by Commissioner Letz, that the Court accept all three bids for the Sheriff's Department radio communications project and refer them to the Sheriff's Department for evaluation and recommendation. Any further questions or comments? If not, all in favor, raise your right hand. (The motion carried by unanimous vote.) DODGE HENNEKE: All opposed, same sign. (No response.) JUDGE HENNEKE: Motion carries. Sheriff, do you have any guesstimate as to when y'all will be prepared to make a recommendation? SHERIFF HIERHOLZER: I talked to Trott Communications, our consultants, day before yesterday. They said they would start on them as soon as I could get them a copy. I don't know if I'm going to have to make copies yet; I don't know if they provided extra ones. I'll make sure, and then we'll see how detailed they are and get iriLo it. There's a lot of technical stuff, and just -- I don't know. COMMISSIONER LETZ: Judge, on the -- when do you plan to call our next budget meetings? We'll ask Trott -- because that's kind of an important component of our budget. JUDGE HENNEKE: We're going to have a workshop a week from tomorrow on elected officials' salaries, at 4 o'clock. A week after that, we're all at the post-legislative conference. So, my -- my proposal is that early the week of August the 20th, we will have more of a tighten-up budget, so if -- if there's any way that Trott could have the recommendation by Monday, August 20th, that would be very beneficial, 'cause that's when we -- it's going to be a major part of the budget consideration. SHERIFF HIERHOLZER: Okay. JUDGE HENNEKE: Okay? Do you want to try to take these now? SHERIFF HIERHOLZER: Sit them here and then I'll just load them in the truck. JUDGE HENNEKE: Remember, the original -- an original of each has to stay in the courtroom -- courthouse, so you need to pull out the originals. (Discussion off the record.) JUDGE HENNEKE: Okay. (The regular Commissioners Court meeting was closed at 2:15 p.m., and a workshop was held in open court, the transcript of which is contained in a separate document.
