Judge Henneke: The total funding that we are eligible to receive from the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's Office under the Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant (JAIBG) for the 2002-2003 fiscal yeaz is $15,328. This total includes $6,744 waived to the county by the City of Kemille and the required matching funds of $1,532. The City Council is approving the resolution to waive the funds on January 22"a The funding for 2002-2003 will be used to continue ongoing projects funded through previous block grants and the funding of a new counseling program for juveniles in the community under the supervision of juvenile probation. The funding breaks down as follows: $10,400 will pay for additional group and individual counseling services (400 hours) provided to pre-adjudicated residents while they are in the facility by a licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). $2,600 will pay for 100 hours of individual counseling provided to Kerr County juveniles after they have been released from detention as a new aftercare program. $2,328 will be used for staff development training for facility staff. ~~~ ~~e P.O. We would like to emphasize that this is not a competitive application process however, you do need to apply. Review the guidelines and then reconvene your Juvenile Crime Enforcement Coalition (JCEC) to approve a plan for the FY 2001 funds. If your jurisdiction is not able to utilize the funds you have two options: 1. You may return the funds to the State by signing the enclosed top portion of the Waiver of Application form (also found on page 38 in the application kit) and by passing a resolution waiving the funds back to the Governor's Criminal Justice Division. 2. Or you may designate a neighboring jurisdiction by signing the bottom portion of the Waiver of Application form and by passing a resolution allocating your money to that jurisdiction. The resolution should be given to the recipient of the funds for inclusion in their application. Submit your application as soon as possible in order to receive the awarded grant.
