SUBJECT: (PLEASE BE SPECIFIC) To request additional funding in line item 427-494, Special
Court Reporter Our court reporter, Kelly Rode, will be taking three months maternity
leave beginning the latter part of July. She has sufficient vacation and sick leave
to take off with pay. We are requesting $3600.00 be added to that line item to cover
the cost of a substitute reporter for that period of time. (See attached)

5:00 P.M. previous Tuesday.
Judge Henneke has agreed that we may make use of Kathy Banik when we can
coordinate hearings to fit her schedule. However, there is no way she will be able to cover all
court hearings in County Court at Law for three months. We will need someone else to cover
for all Tuesday morning arraignment and plea dockets, and for some of the criminal and civil
jury trials, bench trials, contested motions and contested family matters. These all require a
record be made by a court reporter.
A frcc-lance reporter charges $75.00 for half a day and $150.00 for one day. We
estimate that we will need approximately $ 3600.00 for a substitute reporter for those three
months. Please review the following information. Keep in mind that these are "guesstimates",
as we have no way of knowing for sure how much court. will be scheduled that far out,
especially on the family law.
