Kerr County Child Services Board P.O. Box 291423 Kemille, Texas 78029 August 20. 2002 Dear Kerr County Commissioner's Court, The Kerr County Child Services Board is asking to lie put on the agenda for your August 26th meeting. We would like to discuss the following two issues at the meeting. A request for additional funding for this fiscal year. Due to an large increase in the number of Kerr county children who are in foster care, the Board is running out of funds before some immediate needs of these children can be addressed. As of this date, there are currently 52 children in state conservatorship from Kerr county, 46 of whom are in foster care. This time last year there were only 35 children in conservatorship. To be succinct, more money is needed to help with school supplies for these children and to help with emergency placement expenses of several children who have recently entered foster care. 2. A second issue is to seek help in getting fills paid promptly so that a local resource can be used in securing Gothing and other items that these children in foster care need. Your consideration and help in these matters is greatly appreciated. Sincerery, ~ju,yuj c:pu,-~l<,. Sherry Cowell Vice-president, Kerr Courrty Chitd Services Board (830)895-3398
