I have had several meetings with Mark Al1eu, mast ar all of the veterinarians in Kerr Co~~nty, City of Kerrville officials, Huma.~e Society ot~icials and other interested citizens to review current procedures and practices of our Rabies and Anir.~al Control Department. V4 e proposed the following changes: Chapter $26.021 of the Texas Health and Safety Code «•as re~~sed effective 29 March 2003 to allow Cities and Counties to enact laws to provide that Rabies vaccinations'be given to animals on three year intervals instead of the nne year interval as we now require. Mark. Allen and the veterinarians agree that the three year interval is sufficient for most animals, but the vets may contuiue to encourage that animals in a high risk environment be vaccinated more frequently. VVe change our current fee schedule asper the attached document. This and other ei~orts will produce additional revenue. We alter our methods of registering animals so that we significantly increase the rate of compliance and our registration revenue. ~~Ie embark on a campaign to cause more public ar~~areness of aroma( wntrol and reD stration lows to enhance compliance.
