Can be overlaid with flood plains, water tables, and other maps to quickly identify the property and geologic properties. Currently, only Stuart Barron's laptop runs this software because it is the only PC powerful enough handle such software. Microsoft Access 2000 -The current database used to store information electronically. The current OSSF personnel are searching for other alternatives for databases as Access is not fully equipped to suit their needs. ProComm (Symantec) -This is used to allow connections via a dedicated line with the Appraisal District's computers for property and other vital information. Microsoft Office -Used for normal everyday office operations for documents, spread sheets, presentations, day planner, etc. Picture It! -Used for digital image storage and retrieval, as well as image manipulations captured from the field. Internet -Day to day email and research. For some of the software, UGRA does not have a license and does not have any that can be transferred to Kerr County. To obtain Licenses for the proceeding list of software, the following pricing guide is as follows: Software Version # of Licenses Price per License Notes ArcView Minimum 1 $1300 Preferred to have two Preferred 2 copies to allow more than one inspector at a time to use the application. MS Office XP 1 per PC $320 XP is the current version of Office rovided b Misrosoft ProComm $170 Picture It! ~$60 MS Access XP 1 Per PC NIA Included with MS Office XP Professional Hardware At the time of meeting with Stuart, it was unclear as to what equipment UGRA is willing to transfer. His laptop will remain with UGRA. As for the other equipment, he said that ArcView will not run on the other PC's due to limitations of the other pcs. ArcView requires a recommended minimum requirement of Windows NT4.0/2000/XP, 256 MB Ram and 650 Mhz Processor, and since the other pcs do not meet these relatively low requirements, their market value is quite small. Upon talking with Tommy Tomlinson on September 30`h, he stated that when UGRA took over OSSF, they took all of the county equipment with them, including computers, desks, filing cabinets, etc. I did not mention this to Stuart, but thought I would pass the information along to you. Recommendation The following software will be essential to an effective OSSF Department: ArcView -Minimum of 1 license, preferred 2 MS Office - 1 license per PC ProComm - 1 license for the PC that will connect with Kerr Appraisal Picture ITI - 1 license for each inspector Access and Outlook are included with MS Office Professional UGRA had budgeted to move their data from Access to B1ackBeaz Software which is a much user friendlier interface and allows the user to customize the forms and data to suit their needs much better that MS Access. I have done some research on this product and it appears to be a very well designed and supported product. The license is $2000 plus a one time expense of $2000 to move the data and for training on the product. As far as hardware goes, it will depend on the number of personnel. You will definitely need at least 2 desktops for the person that will remain on site and the server/connection with KCAD. Presently, we have been purchasing top quality PC's from Dell for azound $1000 each. This includes a normal CRT Monitor. To move to a flat panel, add $400. Unless there is definite need of additional desk space, I cannot find a reason to justify the added expense of flat panel monitors. The inspectors will need laptops. presently, those are running between $1200 and $1400 for laptops powerful enough to run the software needed and at the same time not be outdated by this time next ycaz. 4SSF will need 1 main phone line, and additional line for each person, 1 fax/credit card machine line and 1 dedicated line to KCAD. In addition, they will need a Fax Machine, a Copier, Digital Camera ($150 - $400), 2 Deskjet printers (Color) ($150) and 2 laser printers ($350). Stuart also gave me a Needed Supply list and I have enclosed that at the tail of this document.
