It's 11 a.m. on November the 13th, 2003. I'll call to order the special Commissioners Court meeting posted for this date. The agenda item today is to canvass the Emergency Services District election. I have here before me Envelope Number 1, which contains the election results, which I will now open. And inside the envelope, we have the tally sheets and the tabulation, and the tabulation is as follows: For -- voting for the formation of the emergency -- Kerr County Emergency Services District Number 2, early votes, 71. Against the formation of the district in early votes, 23. And on election day, voting for the creation of the Emergency Services District Number 2, 25. And against the formation of the district, 10. The total, 96 votes for the creation of the Kerr County Emergency Services District Number 2, and 33 votes against the creation of the district, 129 total votes. JUDGE TINLEY: Motion made and seconded to accept the results of the election for the formation of the Kerr County Emergency Services District Number 2. Any further question or discussion? COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: I think it's very interesting that -- the difference in the amount of votes on the pre-election than it was on election day. Seven -- like, the for's was, like, 77 to 29 or something. COMMISSIONER LETZ: 71-23. COMMISSIONER WILLIAMS: Little over three-to-one. COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: I find that very interesting. COMMISSIONER LETZ: Yeah. COMMISSIONER BALDWIN: Early voting works, obviously. COMMISSIONER LETZ: Well, early voting works, plus, I mean -- yeah. I mean, people -- 71 out of the 96 voted in early voting. I mean, more than that. COMMISSIONER NICHOLSON: I think most of you know that Mr. Bernard Syfan was the driving force behind this, and he had the idea and he organized it and put it togetYier and got support for it, and in my view, it's a good thing that results in our having improved firefighting capability out there in that area. So, tYiank you, Mr. Syfan. COMMISSIONER LETZ: Thank you. JUDGE TINLEY: We appreciate your efforts. Any further question or discussion on the motion?
