Came to be heard this the 22°d day of March 2004 with a motion made by Commissioner
Baldwin, Seconded by Commissioner Nicholson, the Court unanimously approved by a
vote of 3-0-0 to allow the Hill Country CASA to hang children's shoes from the trees in
front of the courthouse during the month of April for Child Abuse Prevention and
Awareness Month.

April is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month.

Hill Country CASA, Family Services of the Hill Country, Kid's Advocacy
Place, K'Star and Hill Country Crisis Council would like to request
permission to hang children's shoes from the trees in front of the court
house. Each pair of shoes will represent children who have lost their
lives in Texas due to abuse and neglect.
The above mentioned agencies will be responsible for getting the shoes
put up and taking them down. We will have signs to explain what the
shoes represent.
The number of fatalities we have to date are as follows:
1997-103; 1998-176; 2001-195; 2002-203; 2003-184. We hope to have the
numbers for 1999 and 2000 for you at the March 22 meeting.
We respectfully request permission to hang at least two hundred pairs of
shoes.
