County Judge and Commissioners: Mr. Odem and I have discussed this issue with TxDot engineer Mr. Mike Coward at length. There are two other alternatives both involving condemnation of land either to the east or to the west of the current intersection to build a different and safer intersection. Either of those two alternatives would be significantly more expensive. Mr. Coward estimates the cost of the proposed solution to be approximately $250;000. He supports this alternative and a this resolution will assist him in assigning a high priority to this project. I believe - as does Mr. Odem -that this is a very serious safety issue. RESOLUTION KERR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' COURT REQUESTING THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AUTHORIZE CONSTRUCTION ON HIGHWAY 27 WHEREAS The intersection of the County Road Rachel Lane with Texas Highway 27 located 3.8 miles west of the city limits of Ingram, Texas is situated in a way that creates an insufficient line of sight for traffic entering Highway 27 from Rachel Lane; and WHEREAS This intersection is a bus stop for the Ingram Independent School District; and WHEREAS There has been a history of traffic accidents including a recent fatality at this intersection; and WHEREAS The safety of this intersection will be significantly improved by improving the line of sight on the north east side of the intersection; now therefore be it RESOLVED That Kerr County Commissioners' Court does hereby request that the Texas Department of Transportation authorize construction to remove an approximate fifteen-foot portion of the berm on the north east corner of the intersection extending approximately four hundred feet along Highway 27 to the east.
