Resolution WHEREAS Kerr County, Texas and the City of Kerrville, Texas separately provide law enforcement services to the citizens of Kerr County, Texas; and ~,el~~~d,1a~~~{~.~ WHEREAS Property owners in ~~e~-E-ettnty are taxed by Kerr County and by the City of Kerrville to underwrite the costs of law enforcement with property owners in the City of Kerrville paying a disproportionate share of such costs; and ~~a WHEREAS Significant savings in the cost of such law enforcement be achieved, through the elimination of redundancies and through economies of scale by combining the two law enforcement ageJncies; and X71 ~ l WHEREAS A combination of the two agencies ~ result in improvements in the capability of law enforcement and the achievement of better results through a "seamless" delivery of services; now therefore be it RESOLVED That Kerr County Commissioners' Court does hereby endorse the exploration and study of the benefits to be derived from the merger of the Kerrville Police Department into the Kerr County Sheriffls Office; and be it further RESOLVED That Kerr County Commissioners' Court invites the Kerrville City Council to join in a joint effort to complete the study and ~~lep-a-i fer s~t~ a -merger -vvith~~a targotsd~ date ~er-~ {{ F c""' ~i" E [ ~ Resolution adopted this 12th day of July 2004.
