SUPPORT DOCUMENT Date: November 10~`, 2004 TO: Commissioners' Court, Kerr County, Texas From: Linda Decker, District Clerk, Ken County, Texas Subject: Re-hire of Simona Garza (1 will not mention the name in testimony) On March 30, 2002, an excellent employee of 20 years retired and continued to work in my office on a part time basis for some time. She is paying for continued insurance thru the county. She receives retirement benefits. As a result of her retirement I eliminated that position completely by agreement with Judge Tinley. Her position was administrative clerk with a 17/9 step/grade ($27,327 annually). I lost an employee last month that was receiving $22,536.00 at level 13/6. That position is now open at an entry level step 13/1 (19,919 annually). Simona Garza has applied for that open position and because of her knowledge, loyalty and experience I request to employ her at step 13, grade 6 with an annual salary of 22,536.00. She had been employed with the County for over 20 years and I would be honored and very fortunate to have her return to my staff. She understands that she will no longer receive her retirement compensation. She is capable of serving and has served in a supervisor for many years and trained many deputy clerks. ,~,Q ,, J nda eckcr, Dis rict 1
