Agenda Item Backup Material Attached is the latest in a litany of complaints most, if not all of us receive from various Elected Officials and Department Heads regarding the effectiveness and efficiency of the Kerr County Information Technology Specialist. The Court will recall that when Ms. Mitchell was selected to be our Administrative Assistant/Court Coordinator, we were made aware that, in addition to her others skills, she was experienced and competent to manage the Kerr County Web Site. We issued instructions to the Information Technology Department that she be familiarized with the Web Site ASAP so that changes and improvements could be managed from Commissioners' Court. Repeated efforts have been made to effect this transition, and 9 months later, nothing has happened to facilitate our instructions. It's time to correct this and the other problems relayed to us. _:_,~_.~;"~@(n4~,c;4~u 8~-~6~4bT K C Fi~ia17 ~ B~IL'1iaE P~G~ @1 ROAD da BRIDGE MEMORANDUM Td: Shsiin $~ / FRC?M: Truby Hardin CC: Tammy Ta nv Commissioners Court DATIr; Member 16, 20Q4 5UB3EGT: Ra-~sd ~ 13ridgo [n Scptcmbex, 2004 our aftice purchased a new Bell Computer for Barbara. TAX OFFICE MEMORANDUM TO: COUNTY JUDGE & COMIvIISSIONERS COURT FROM: PAULA RECTOR susJECr: aoNrnvrERs DATE: 12/29/2004 CC: On several occasions in the past and present we have made request for repairs or upgrades on computers located in the Tax Office. Since this office is primarily a public service office, it is imperative that all computers are operating properly at all times. When problems arise we depend on our Information's Technologist, Shaun Branham to take care of these problems as quickly as possible, which in most instances is not the case. I understand that he caruiot focus all of his attention on this office, but when he is made aware of a problem, it takes days, and in most cases weeks for him to fix it. Most recent case is the computer used by my Chief Deputy. Arrangements were made with Shaun in November for a much needed upgrade. I paid for the upgrade in November and was supposed to be done while we were in College Station, it did not get done, when he was asked why, he said he didn't have time. Again arrangements were made to have the upgrade done over the Christmas holidays. Shaun explained the he was taking off Wednesday the 22nd so he could work on the computer on Friday the 24th. My chief deputy unhooked the tower and placed it on his desk Yesterday, Tuesday the 28th, the tower was still setting in his desk and nothing had been done, haven't heard from him since. I feel we have gone out of our way to accommodate him, and get nothing but excuses. If he worked 8 to 5 like all of us here, instead of when he says he is working, perhaps things would get done. Which apparently he isn't working when he says he is going to, and I am sure he has a good excuse. We all have to answer to someone, even the elected officials, who have to answer to the citizens of Kerr County, but who does he answer to? I would like to apply for his job so I have no one to answer to. I hope someone will address this situation; I am at the end of my rope. t ` ,, ~~ ~~ Paula Rector, RTA
