See Agenda Request Rules Adopted by Commissioners' Court. /.3 RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF MENTAL HEALTH AND MENTAL RETARDATION LOCAL AUTHORITY AND PROVIDER ROLES WHEREAS, Hill Country Community MHMR Center has served a vital role in this community as both the local authority and local provider of services for mental health and mental retardation; and WHEREAS, Hill Country Community MHMR Center is the predominant local provider of mental health and mental retardation services in this community; and WHEREAS, Hill Country Community MHMR Center is instrumental in creating and maintaining strong partnerships on behalf of people with mental illness or mental retardation and their families; and WHEREAS, Hill Country Community MHMR Center has proven to be a good steward of public funds and is a valued asset as a manger of those funds and as a provider of services in Kerr County; WHEREAS, The current regional service area established for Hill Country Community MHMR Center was originally developed by the county judges to meet the unique needs of rural counties in the greater Texas Hill Country. This service area works to meet the needs of our communities and we want to maintain this service area as it stands today. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Kerr County Commissioners Court, do hereby: 1. Support Hill Gountry Community MHMR Center remaining a viable provider of services for people with mental illness and mental retardation while maintaining their role as the local mental health and mental retardation authority; and 2. Request intense scrutiny of H-8470 and SB194 regarding their detrimental impact on rural counties in Texas.
