Treatment Coordinator (QCC) Facility Administrator Signature Date Date page 3 of 3 Rational for Hiring LPC 1. Counselor Preston Hyde is resigning his position at KCJF effective April 15~'. This creates an opening for a counselor. 2, Hiring an LPC would eliminate the need for Dr. Lisa Waits to conduct suicide assessments at a savings of approximately $400-$500 per month. 3. An LPC may make medication recommendations at which time the resident would see Dr. Meriwether or MHMR according to individual situation. 4. An LPC may make recommendations regarding more intensive mental health services at another sight that would be confirmed or reputed by a psychiatrist at the expense of the placing county upon their approval. 5. An LPC meets the requirements of Clinical Training Institute Coordinator and Qualified Credentialed Counselor (QCC) for LCDC Counseling Interns who conduct substance abuse treatment sessions for properly diagnosed residents. 6. An LPC can conduct treatment sessions and carry a case management load along with the one remaining counselor. 7. An LPC would reduce or eliminate the need to pay for the counseling services of HCCADA. 8. As the population of residents requiring substance abuse treatment increases, so does the expenditures paid to HCCADA. Presently there are 9 residents diagnosed with substance abuse maladies requiring ~-. treatment according to their court order. A substance abuse counselor may only carry 10 residents on their individual counseling load according to DSHS standards. HCCADA cost for counseling services with 9 Residents; Individual Counseling---9 @ $45/hour=$405/week=$1620/month Group Sessions---9 @ $17.50/week=$157.50/week=$630/month Total cost for 9 residents per month=$2250 for HCCADA services Dr. Watts cost for suicide assessments @ $85/assessment=approximately $400 to $500/month Total expenses for 9 residents deferred by full-time LPC on staff=approximately $2750/month A qualified LPC, depending upon additional licensures and experience, maybe hired, in this area, for approximately $35,000 to $38,000. Preston Hyde's salary is $31, 845. There would be an approximate increase of $500/month in monthly salary to hire an LPC to replace him. MICHAEL C. I would like clarification of the contract between the KCJDF and the Hill Country Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Inc. (HCCADA) to provide treatment services for the residents at KCJDF. a. To what extent does the facility plan on utilizing HCCADA's treatment services? Our concern is that during a conversation on Mazch 14~`, 2005 with Becky Harris, I was informed that our services may not be required for any longer than 30 days after the hiring of the LPC/LCDC and; 1. Initial contract has been amended and will require HCCADA board approval to move forward; 2. Services will require HCCADA staffto receive KCJDF training on policies and procedures; If it is the desire of the Kerr County Commissioners and the Kerr County Juvenile Detention Facility, the Hill Country Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse can begin providing treatment services for the residents at the KCJDF Apri17`~, 2005.
