Information Technology Monthly Report for April 2005 Replaced twelve depreciated computers with computers provided by the Sheriff. A total of twenty-six computers will be installed for law enforcement purposes from the jokers wild seizure. Thanks should go out to Rusty for providing the county with these much needed computers. Direct cost saving to the county will be $33,100. Replaced two depreciated computers with newly purchased computers. Began evaluation of the software group server (ex-mainframe) in the effort for long term planning and budgeting for Tax and Courts. . Tested a system that would provide the Sheriff' patrol officers with wireless (in the patrol unit) connectivity to ableterm for filing reports. If implemented this system would bring efficiency and direct savings. Other unrealized savings in driven miles per unit and for the Public' benefit of having officers 'in pocket' vs driving back to the law enforcement center to file reports. Report on Video teleconferencing and broadband connectivity for the courthouse and law enforcement center is pending. Installed admin tools and applied updates on 100 percent of the county desktop computers. Completion was estimated for June. Reconfigured the network equipment in the Sheriff office to provide room for expansion and to clean up the space. Installed new server for file sharing and security. Reconfigured the computer room; added redundant air conditioning and power. Installed metal racks for the proper housing of equipment and to allow future expansion. Conducted routine maintenance of the county databases. Hours per week required = 15. Backlog of non 'work stoppage' issues is at two weeks. Hours worked this month 245. Seal coat is underway. Our objective was to do the dirt roads first working with our new equipment so that everyone is comfortable with the equipment before we get into the more populated area 2. We have completed: Clark and the portion of Fall Creek that we reconstructedy and Lange. Budget Our budget is looking pretty good with the exception of Fuel. We increased this line item, but it will not be enough. I estimate we will need at least $32,000 and the only place we can take it is from Contract Fees and Contingencies. Personnel: All of our employees just completed the Advanced Road Scholar Program. We are the only department in the state to have done so. '~ All of our positions are filled and everyone is well and working at this time. We did have another WC claim this past month. I would like to ask the Court to consider addressing the issue of WC claims and what number of claims they might consider an excessive number for a single employee. Office Projects: Even though we have daily inquires about floodplain and subdivision regulations we currently only have a few that have actually made application and I have listed those on your sheet. Commissioner Letz requested that we keep a file on inquiries to the office on Subdivisions and Floodplain. With the volume of calls we get it is difficult to make notes and then transfer them to a computer files, but we will attempt to do so. The attached list are recent contacts we compiled from our notes.
