Roger 1., Bobectz. - Applicatina fur Reappointment to Airport Beard
1 am applying for another tarot ae a tnerriber of the Airport Board because I believe that there is
value in continuity atnonlr, some members of the Aoard. Many of the issues with which the Board
must deal are complex, and understanding of their history is important. Further, I believe that l
can make a riveful eonttibution as a Board member, !' m retired, but !feel that my set of
experiences which'tnclude current use of the Airport as a private pi[ut and tenant, pt'evious
volunteer work in local govermnent, rhta~ch leadership positiars, and senior policy making
responsibilities in large US corporations (Scott !'aper Company and Union Carbide) make rtre
well qualified to serve on the Aoard.
Prior to serving on the Airport Aoard, perhaps my most relevant expertertce in this type of work
was with the Candiewr„wd Lake Authority in Conr>rcticut. This atathor'rty's responsibility was to
monitor the ecobgical stability of a large take bordered by Eve towns, and to propose relatrd
legislation or outer rneasursns to the towns wfsen appropriate. `i'he Authority also suporvised a
small, armed police forr:c. l was one of three appointed to represent my town an the Authority,
and was also elected to be its Treasurer.
i have also served as tht ]'resident of a 75 home residential association that operated its own
water system and maintained its own roads.
1 am eurrcntiy serving as an Elder az the First Presbyterian Churchsn Knrrviilc, and will lse the
e~xt Chair of its Personnel Cotximittre. I have also held several other ahurcit positions ittc]ttdittK
!13odc:ator of First Congregatiattal Church in New Milford Connerticut.
Tht position at Scutt Paper Company from which ! retires! in 1494 Involved responsibility for ati
itro eompet~sation and benefit programs wor]dwidc, including executive wmpensation. !had a
sniff of 35, reported to the V ice Chairman of the Board for most oI' my tenure, sold worked
closely with a committee of the E3oard and the CF.O.1 also served on the Company's issues
Committee, which provided guidance to the company's Federal and State lobbyists.
in my professional specialty, !was elected W the ('ottference Aoard's Council on Compensation,
acrd served as its Chairman. I have been a frequent speaker at professional conferences, and have
been iaterr7ewed (thankfully rwt very often) by national print media.
1 have been pleased and harwred to serve the City of Kerrvil le, and Kerr Cowtty as an at large
member of the Airport Board, and would welcome the opportunity to Continue serving in riser
