See Agenda Request Rules Adopted by Commissioners' Court. 29174 Resolution WHEREAS H.B. 3588 was passed which gave the Transportation Commission the authority to create the Trans Texas Corridor; and WHEREAS The Trans Texas Corridor is the Governor's vision of interstate transportation corridors which would traverse Texas; and WHEREAS Each corridor could be as much as a quarter of a mile wide with multiple vehicle lanes and train transportation and right-of--way property within the comdor; and WHEREAS The Trans Texas Corridor could negatively affect local economy, as well as rural Texas by splitting farms and ranches, uprooting wildlife; and WHEREAS The projected cost of the Trans Texas Corridor, which is estimated to be as much as $184 billion will place an unnecessary financial burden on state taxpayers; and WHEREAS If H.B. 3588 is left unaltered, it will give the Transportation Commission legal authority to commence route selection and the right to condemn private property for its use in building the Trans Texas Corridor; and WHEREAS We believe that such an immense project could negatively impact property rights and water, the most precious resources that this State has. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE Kerr County Commissioners' Court goes on record in opposition to the building of the Trans Texas Corridor as it is currently proposed.
