T v Vv ~- ~^ ~~ t ~~ 1 v ~ I _ / ,1~~ THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF THE FOUNDING OF KERR COUNTY, TEXAS April 26-30, 2006 KERB COUNTY SESQUICENTENTIAL CELEBRATION April 26-3Q 2006 General Philosophy 1. This is KERB COUNTY'S anniversary and the county as a whole must be behind such a celebration 100% or it will never take place. All elected officials should be evolved. 2. A realist budget to support this celebration must be established early on and supported by all. 3. This is going to be a big job if it is to be done right. Therefore, a paid executive director will be needed. This could be approached in several ways: a. There is a possibility that some working arrangement could be made with the executive director of the Texas Arts and Craft (Bob Miller). He is knowledge of what it would take to pull this off in a professional manner. He has many of the entertainment and food folks already under contract for the '06 Fair. A meeting has taken place with Mr. Miller, Bill Williams and Walter Schellhase at which time the 150'h Celebration was discussed. As of this time there has been no response from Mr Miller. b. Hire an individual for this event only. Several people come to mind that could pull this off in a very professional manner: Dian Dixon, Louise Kirby, Nancy Baker, Anita Butler, etc. And there aze many others that could be considered. c. Negotiate a contract with an entertainment group to put the celebration together fora % of the revenue such as Ice Kennedy and his entertainment group. 4. It will be important to get the total community involved with the support of all the organizations in town. Each organization will have to be willing to take on a particulaz project that is within their rim of expertise. 5. Law Enforcement (City, County, and State) must be onboard in ways that have not been acceptable in the past few years. 6. TEXDOT must be willing to work with parade groups with road closing that they have not been willing to do in the past. 7. The celebration needs to advertised and dates published now. Dates need to be set and the local and state calendars need to be notified. 8. The County should be participating in other celebrations around the state with advertising, appearances, float (as was used for the 100'"). 9. A lot of coordination needs to be done now with all organizations, schools, the museums, camps, CVB, Chamber, other city governments, etc. 10 Places to be used for events need to be committed.
