PROCLAMATION WHEREAS; The Relay for Life is the signature fund-raising event of the American Cancer Society. Kerr County held its first Relay in 2003; and WHEREAS; The 15` Relay held in 2003 -raised approximately $27,000; The 2"d Relay held in 2004 -raised approximately $46,000; The 3`a Relay held in 2005 -raised $106,000 with approximately 87 teams participating; and WHEREAS; In 2005 the Kids for a Cure program was added to encourage students to participate in the Relay. Hundreds of 35mm film canisters were distributed throughout Kerr County challenging students to fill them with quarters. Over $1200 was collected in quarters alone through Kids for a Cure. THEREFORE: In recognition of the efforts of many to raise funds for cancer reseazch, Kerr County Commissioners' Court hereby PROCLAIMS May 5th and 6`h as Ken County Relay for Life Days and urges all citizens to support efforts to aid cancer reseazch.
