Page 1 of 1 Kerr County JudaelCommissioners' Court From: "JonathanLetz" To: "Kathy Mitchell" Sent: Thursday, May 04, 2006 7:19 AM Subject: agenda backup When the Commisioners Court approved the new Kerr County Subdiviosn Rules and Regulations, the court authorized me to make several minor revisions and correct any minor typos. In my review I have realized there are some problems with the road design specifications. The problem is from "pulling information" from several sources the approved specifications do not allow for the inter-relationship between some of the specifications. For example as speed limits change other criteria such as curve radius, gradient, etc are also affected. I do not recommend any change in the base criteria; however, I believe we need to allow for specification adjustments based on an engineers design. I also have a concern that the traffic count numbers we chose are too resrtictive and may need to be increased to be more in line with state standards and we need to better define how traffic counts are to be calculated. If we approve hiring Mr. Wells as a consulting engineer, I would recommend he review the current road design specifications and be authorized to develop appropriate language to accommodate the above problems and I be authorized to incorporate such language in the approved draft of the Subdivison Rules.
