Agenda Item Backup Statement Commissioners' Court has informally discussed re-locating the Collections Department to make space available for the new Human Resources Department. It has been previously suggested that the HR Department be on the first floor of the Courthouse, and in close proximity to Commissioners' Court. The only logical space available on the first floor of the Courthouse is that currently occupied by the Collections Department. So, to accomplish this, Collections must be re-located. A temporary solution would be to utilize some space allocated by the County Clerk, to the left of the entrance to the department. A permanent solution can come by renovating the restrooms on the second floor of the Courthouse adjacent to the District Clerk's office. This space has been offered by the District Clerk who states that the restrooms are seldom used. There is also space available in the basement of the Courthouse; or a build-out of space in the basement of the Annex is a possibility. If renovation of the space upstairs is the Court's choice, removal of the fixtures and installation of an interior door could be accomplished at modest cost. Whatever the decision, we need to be about it in the days immediately ahead.
